2007: The First Elections that Signalled the Erosion of the Greek Dream
摘要
In this chapter, we discuss the 2007 elections, the second consecutive victory for Kostas Karamanlis, three years after the electoral triumph of 2004. This victory marked the second win for ND and Kostas Karamanlis, accompanied by a decline in bipartisanship, which dropped by about 6%. The elections resulted in a five-party parliament with the rise of KKE, SYRIZA, and LAOS. Set in post-Olympic Greece, the period transitioned from the economic euphoria of 2004 to the early signs of the economic crisis, which a few years later would bring the storm of the memoranda.
