The chapter is written as an auto-historiographic or retrospective personal account with a twofold purpose. The author’s aim is to give a description of how and when she became involved in introducing the topic of business ethics into the curriculum at the Norwegian Business School in 1990. Against the background of her involvement and observations in the private and public sector, she describes how her own teaching and research approach evolved as “ethics in practice” over several years. Since the Norwegian public had decided that Norway would not join the EU as a full member and the country was undergoing rapid economic and social development due to increased revenues from the oil sector, the need to raise ethical issues became apparent.

摘要
