In This Era of Cheap and Easy DNA Testing Do We Even Need to Take a Family History of Colorectal Neoplasia from Our Patients?

Taking a family history of colorectal neoplasia is still an important part of a patient encounter because there is a direct correlation between a positive family history and the risk of developing colorectal cancer. This chapter reinforces the importance of taking an accurate family history from every patient, and of educating patients about the implications of having a relative with colorectal cancer.
