How Do You Define Straining at Defecation, What Are the Causes of Straining, and How Do You Correct It?
摘要
Constipation is a common symptom in the United States, although the details of the symptoms labeled “constipation” vary from one patient to another. “Constipation” can mean infrequent stools, hard stools, small stools, or stools that are difficult to pass. Straining at stool is a particularly important symptom because it stresses the anus. It is also an indication of poor bowel habits, and so can often be corrected by appropriate changes in lifestyle. This chapter discusses the causes of straining at stool and suggests ways to avoid it.
