This paper investigates the potential of gamification to improve citizen engagement and participation in sustainable urban planning and transportation systems. By incorporating gamified elements, the approach seeks to boost citizen motivation and enhance their understanding of traffic and urban development projects. Insights derived from expert interviews and a comprehensive literature review inform the development of a conceptual framework for effectively integrating gamification into these areas. This framework aims to address the challenge of low citizen involvement by making complex concepts more accessible and engaging.
