The Interconnection Between Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Film Industry
摘要
The advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has ushered in a transformative era for the film industry, revolutionizing the creative landscape from pre-production to distribution. This paper explores the multifaceted role of AI in filmmaking, examining its impact on script analysis, cinematography, editing, and beyond. AI tools such as StoryFit enhance script analysis in pre-production, improving character development and audience engagement. During production, AI facilitates precise cinematography and innovative techniques like markerless 3D motion capture. In post-production, AI streamlines editing, color grading, sound design, and VFX while creating realistic crowd behaviors through advanced software. AI also reshapes film distribution by leveraging predictive analytics to forecast box office performance, as demonstrated by companies like Warner Bros. Beyond these technical contributions, the paper situates AI in the broader context of sustainable development, addressing its alignment with key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). AI fosters innovation and infrastructure growth in line with SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), supports inclusive economic growth through job creation (SDG 8), and promotes ethical practices in casting and diversity (SDG 5: Gender Equality). Furthermore, AI’s efficiency in resource management contributes to SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and its evolving ethical considerations reflect the importance of peace and justice in SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). Through case studies, this paper delves into the interconnection between AI and filmmaking across all phases and the speculative future of AI’s integration, highlighting the need for a balanced approach that fosters creativity, efficiency, and sustainability in the film industry.
