This study investigates the awareness and adoption of Expanded Polystyrene Materials (EPM) in Nigerian educational building projects using Lagos State as a case study. A quantitative design approach was employed, with 67 questionnaires distributed to construction professionals, yielding a 96% response rate. Data analysis revealed high awareness of EPM, particularly for wall panels, concrete facials, and ceiling finishes, but low adoption rates due to limited availability and high costs. The primary benefit of EPM was identified as thermal insulation, while lack of technical expertise and limited access to suppliers were significant barriers to adoption. The study's findings imply that addressing availability and cost challenges is crucial for increasing EPM adoption. The study contributes to the development of sustainable building practices in Nigeria, highlighting EPM's potential benefits, including thermal insulation and increased structural integrity.
