OMCs are typically found in highly polar environments, including natural waters or extremely complex biological matrices, at low quantities (ng-μg). OTCs are not only found in harbors; they can also be found offshore, where contamination is less severe. This chapter follows the transformation tracks of OMCs in various habitats as well as the interactions and fate of various compartments, including a variety of internal and external circumstances. Their evolutionary modification, which fundamentally transforms their molecular identity, considerably affects their importance, usually concerning their transmission and toxicological repercussions. This chapter displays the degradation index, partitioning, as well as diffusion. Using partitioning coefficients, the biota’s capacity to concentrate TBT from water, sediment, and SPM is evaluated. The biotransformation methodology is assessed as a methodical approach to be used to get beyond the practical and technical restrictions on the utilization of various OMC remediation strategies.
