Our ancestors took a long time to adapt to their environment and had a diet that met their needs. How can we find out what our ancestors ate and whether they had an adequate supply of micronutrients? By analyzing isotopes in the teeth of these ancestors, conclusions can be drawn about the food they ate (animal or plant). Their diet was diverse, and their micronutrient supply was sufficient for their survival and reproduction. The spectrum of micronutrients could vary greatly depending on whether the food came mainly from the shore of lakes or more from the forest. Fish and aquatic plants were of a different quality from leaves, fruits, and roots. The food found on land (insects, small animals) further contributed to the food quality being sufficient for the survival of our ancestors. Seven Ma ago, the Sahelanthropus tchadensis, which lived at Lake Chad and walked upright on two legs through its habitat, had a sufficient diet that also provided the following generations and their relatives with food so that they could live without significant changes. Their habitat was stable, and their food supply was secure until the climate changed about 2 Ma and presented the hominini with new and significant challenges.

摘要
