A pivotal idea of the phenomenology of life is about the significant role of imagination in characterizing the creative human condition. Since the early 1970s, Anna-Teresa Tymieniecka has pioneered Imaginatio Creatrix as the prime force inspiring and mobilizing human beings into both self-individualization in life and interconnectedness with what-there-is-alive, to inscribing on a transformative constructive orbit of becoming that is, among other things, oriented towards the natural world. Displaying a holistic and dynamic perspective on life in its wholeness—through the network of the logoic workings and potentialities from vital, geo-cosmic, to creative and sacral horizons -, the ontopoietic phenomenology unfolds original concepts and approaches that are useful in the effort to deal with current ecological issues and to find ways of wisely harmonizing human and nature/microcosm and macrocosm. The creative imagination and the moral sense are crucial for shaping the unique position of man as “Custodian of everything-there-is-alive.” We focus on this peculiar human status emphasized by the Tymienieckan phenomenology of the logos of life in its potential to open a broader and nuanced comprehension of the needed balance between humans and nature.
