A growing field in plastic surgery is gender affirmation surgery, previously known as gender reassignment surgery. A multidisciplinary approach is essential to providing quality care to the transgender population. This chapter reviews the role of plastic surgeons in transgender care, guidelines for candidate selection, surgical techniques, and postoperative complications.
