Congenital hand anomalies affect 0.1%–0.3% of all live births. After congenital heart defects, congenital limb deformities are the second most common birth defect. These conditions are typically sporadic or inherited genetic deformities and are rarely due to teratogens such as thalidomide. The most common conditions include syndactyly, polydactyly, camptodactyly, and amniotic band syndrome.
