Botox/Filler
摘要
Botulinum neurotoxin inhibits the action of the corresponding muscle by blocking acetylcholine release at the synapse. It has a wide variety of applications in plastic surgery, but is most commonly used in facial rejuvenation. It can treat dynamic rhytides of the forehead/glabella, lateral canthus, nasal sidewall, perioral region, melomental folds, and chin. It can also be used to treat a “gummy smile,” masseter hypertrophy, nasal tip ptosis with speech and smile, migraines, and hyperhidrosis. It is generally safe to use; however, minor side effects can occur, including brow/eyelid ptosis, asymmetries, xerostomia, and oral incompetence. Filler encompasses a variety of autologous, biologic, and synthetic materials that are used to augment soft tissues, most commonly to reverse signs of facial aging. It can be used to volumize the lips, cheeks, nasolabial folds, tear troughs, temples, and periorbital soft tissues. Care must be taken to avoid intravascular injection to avoid soft tissue necrosis.
