Aesthetic Education Today: The Gramscian Practices of Pier Paolo Pasolini

In our time, aesthetic education should foster a democratic citizenship and help overcome the pathologies caused by neoliberalism. Unlike the neoliberal subject, who is in constant struggle to demonstrate superiority over other competitors, aesthetic education advocates for a subject who is aware of his or her capacity to intervene equally in various institutions and social spheres. Hence, the need to link aesthetic education with a radically democratic program that helps us think about alternatives to the neoliberal homo œconomicus.
