Team formation is an important process in project management to improve the performance of project teams and achieve project success. Solving the team formation problem requires employing different methods depending on the business context to select the most appropriate team members for a specific project according to different criteria. Since the problem of team formation is considered a problem of Multi-Criteria Decision-Making, this study employs an approach of Multi-Criteria Decision-Making called the Best-Worst method for evaluating the most important factors that affect team formation when forming project teams for engineering projects according to project managers in the Real Estate sector. The study determines the most influential factors for project team formation after revealing the weights and ranks these factors according to their importance for selecting the team members as follows: Personality, Skills & Competencies, Expertise & Proficiency, Teamwork, Work Experience, Education & Knowledge, and Characteristics. The study adds knowledge to the Team Formation Problem in project management for engineering projects and how it can be solved using the so-called Best-Worst method weighing approach.
