This chapter explores the multidimensional approach of cultural appropriation amongst the Aawambo tribe with reference to fashion in Namibia. There are psychological antecedents of cultural appropriation and authenticity when it comes to Namibian tribes, as some of them are deeply rooted in culture. In terms of antecedents, this chapter will look into how the Aawambo people use their identity to navigate through the journey of culture. Additionally, the influence of modernism with specific reference to fashion will also be highlighted. This chapter will also give an account on various economic activities the communities engage in, with specific reference to the way they dress and their daily engagement in economic activities. This chapter made use of an emic research design and conducted interviews with various Aawamboe people. Given its qualitative nature and its ability to unearth issues not necessarily known to many communities made this chapter a perfect fit in today’s global economy. This chapter can act as a springboard for many more experiments to be conducted in Namibia.
