This research focused on developing a comprehensive improvement for the distribution and warehousing area of a retailer. Initially, an ABC–xyz model was implemented to classify products into nine categories, which allowed the establishment of specific inventory policies for each type of product. Subsequently, a statistical and time series analysis of the demand for a representative product of each category was carried out in order to identify consumption patterns and trends. In addition, the plant layout of the warehouses was evaluated to optimize efficiency and productivity in the storage processes. Based on these analyses, a continuous improvement plan was generated for the supply area, which included the implementation of tools such as the 5S, key performance indicators, and the adoption of advanced technologies for warehouse management. These actions were aimed at increasing operational efficiency, reducing costs and improving customer service. This research not only sought to improve inventory management and distribution but also to foster a culture of continuous improvement and technological adaptation in the company, thus ensuring sustainable and competitive performance in the market. As a result, a number of significant benefits were obtained. The classification and organization of spaces helped reduce visual waste and facilitated the quick location of products and equipment, improving operational efficiency and minimizing time wasted searching for tools.
