The article addresses the need for adequate vocational guidance in schools, especially due to the traditional method of guidance based on meetings, which is only sometimes the best option for the students, as it sometimes takes a long time. Also, the lack of adequate counseling can lead young people to pursue careers influenced by other people or recommendations unrelated to their interests, which can contribute to dropping out of college. Therefore, this paper aims to improve vocational guidance by implementing a chatbot that provides recommendations to satisfy users when selecting their college career. This chatbot will serve as a guide for the students in the selection of a career to avoid dropping out of college. For the implementation of this article, we used the methodology of a bibliographic analysis with an experimental approach; for the evaluation, we conducted pilot tests on a random group of 120 high school students, where we evaluated the satisfaction provided by the chatbot. The chatbot showed 89% effectiveness in the recommendation of careers satisfying the opinion of the students surveyed. This research will not only contribute to the advancement of vocational assessment methods. Still, it will also shed light on the responsiveness and efficiency of chatbots as a meaningful tool providing a personalized recommendation for a college career. With the information provided, it is expected to offer school counselors and educational system designers the starting point for implementing technological tools, as would be the case of chatbots in vocational guidance.
