This work argues that incorporating a disability perspective into the discourse on lethal autonomous weapon systems (LAWS) reframes fundamental debates regarding their conceptualization, training phase, design, and use, thereby opening the topic to a deeper and more comprehensive discussion. First, this perspective is applied to analyze the conceptual underpinnings of LAWS. A procedural approach is then employed to develop arguments advocating for new design requirements for LAWS, particularly in relation to targeting. Finally, some considerations for further research from a relational perspective, as well as challenges in integrating both approaches, are presented.
