This review paper presented a global overview of how the environment is affected by the impact of carbon persistence; the dynamics between carbon and soil components as well as highlighting the role of microorganisms in carbon sequestration which was hitherto not accorded the rightful significance as an indispensable factor. The relevance of different microbial groups such as fungi and bacteria to significantly mitigate climate change was established, and methods of harnessing microbial applications for carbon sequestration were examined. The application of microbial inoculants in soil for the purpose of facilitating carbon sequestration is recommended as an eco- friendly and sustainable boost to traditional carbon sinks such as forests and peat bogs. It is concluded that future efforts at combating global warming must include the utilization of microbial inoculants in agricultural lands to enhance microbial efficiency for carbon sequestration in soil.
