The Continuous Improvement (CI) idea, based on the Japanese management philosophy of Kaizen, represents a paradigm change in our understanding of operational excellence and project management. This methodology arose from the convergence of classical management theory with Japanese industrial methods, particularly among management theorists such as W. Edwards Deming and Toyota employees. In project management, the term CI has evolved into much more than a collection of tools and processes; it now refers to a holistic management philosophy that dictates how businesses originate and complete projects.
