A piece of equipment, no matter how well-designed, is not immune to failure, and experience proves this. Therefore, the maintenance function is becoming increasingly important and has proven to be one of the key functions of modern production companies. It is now unrealistic to exploit strategic equipment of high quality, meeting user needs, without understanding what its operating pathologies will be in the working environment. This work focuses on the maintenance of a turbo compressor due to its critical role in the company, relying on advanced methods and tools such as the Pareto principle. In order to decide the fate of our system, our study is complemented by an economic study of the turbo compressor, which is the originality of the research. This allows us to assess the total failure cost through both direct and indirect costs. To carry out our study, we used analytical methods to determine the critical parameters, which are used to assess the degradation of equipment. Finally, to validate our approach, we used as a case study the sensitive components of the strategic equipment in the turbo compressor system, aiming to increase its availability and lifespan. This study has allowed us to obtain results in line with practical reality at the company level, which has had a positive impact on the TFT region, and will be used and monitored by other operational.
