Building on Chap. 6 , this chapter expands on the evolutionary function of sleep and dreaming in the Homo sapiens mind-brain to describe it—from a contemporary neuroscientific perspective—as an information sorting and organizing process, and driver towards truth. The chapter discusses the various mechanisms and components of the sleep and dreaming system which accomplish this.
