The rapid evolution of generative artificial intelligence has opened new pathways for personalized education, particularly in online learning. This study explores the integration of ChatGPT, as a pedagogical tool to support personalized learning and collaborative knowledge construction. Through a case study, we examine how ChatGPT-4o facilitated learning, provided iterative feedback, and fostered engagement through its conversational tone. Findings reveal that the conversational generative AI effectively scaffolded learning, enhancing student understanding. However, its utility was limited in handling advanced or domain-specific queries, underscoring the necessity of human oversight. Peer feedback in group discussions further enhanced the quality of learning outcomes, demonstrating the complementary roles of AI and human collaboration. While ChatGPT-4o holds promise as a tool for personalized learning, future research should explore its integration across diverse educational settings. Examining learning outcomes, engagement, and user perceptions will help address its limitations and optimize its potential, ensuring its effective implementation in education while maintaining a balance between AI assistance and human expertise.
