This work showed that sustainable technologies; sustainability investments; stakeholder knowledge and AI based learning enhance environment performance. That is why the strategies and tools underlying these factors, when used individually or together, build the foundation for sustainable practices and the boost of the green transition process. But there are some limitations which need to be discussed more. The sample, which concentrates mainly on SMEs, restricts the applicability of the findings to the large firms or firms operating in different conditions. Finally, the application self-assessments for evaluation of environmental performance could be biased, and the cross-sectional analysis of the study does not allow for understanding trends. Therefore it would be relevant to undertake longitudinal designs, to include other types of organization in the sample, and to include qualitative methods such as case studies or in-depth interviews. Such perspectives would complement the knowledge of the dynamics investigated and contribute to the emergence of more inclusively constructed transitions for an ecological transition.
