Between 1936 and 1946, the International Labour Organization (ILO) organized 3 American Labour Conferences (Santiago de Chile, 1936; Havana, Cuba 1939; and Mexico City, Mexico, 1946), where tripartite discussions were held - State,Employers and workers - the situation of capital and labour at regional and intercontinental level. The workers presented at each conference diagnoses and concrete proposals on how to improve the standard of living and working conditions of the proletariat in the region. Issues such as occupational medicine, industrial hygiene, mass feeding, child labour, the working situation of women and social security were widely discussed, Starting a path of negotiation that promoted at the end of each conference a series of resolutions that it was up to the respective State-Nation to implement and employers and workers to ensure respect for the legislation in force.
