Knowledge and Problem Solving
摘要
Developing the view that philosophy is acquisition of knowledge also requires answering the question: Is knowledge problem solving by the analytic method? A widely held view is that the answer is negative. This depends on the fact that it is assumed that the method of mathematics is the axiomatic method and the method of science is the hypothetico-deductive method. But this chapter argues that these assumptions are not valid. The method of mathematics, science, and knowledge in general is the analytic method, therefore knowledge is problem solving by the analytic method. Then the view that philosophy is acquisition of knowledge implies that the method of philosophy is the analytic method, therefore philosophy is problem solving by the analytic method.
