Developing the view that philosophy is acquisition of knowledge also requires answering the question: What is the relation of knowledge to mind? A widely held view is that the mind is different from the body and knowledge belongs to the mind alone, but this chapter argues that this view is not valid. Alternatively, the chapter argues that the mind consists of certain faculties of the body and knowledge is based on these faculties, which are implemented by processes internal and external to the body.
