When software developers embark on the development of software systems, they typically rely on documentation derived from preceding stages. In the domain of requirements engineering, it is imperative that software requirements specifications accurately inherit business, system, or stakeholder requirements. Business requirements specifications articulate stakeholders’ perspectives and the objectives they aim to accomplish. Regrettably, such critical insights are occasionally overlooked during the formulation of software requirements specifications, leading to potential discrepancies between the final product and stakeholders’ intended goals or perspectives. In this paper, we propose a methodology designed to establish a clear traceability path from use case descriptions to stakeholders’ goals within the requirements engineering process. Our approach involves mapping from use case descriptions to the CATWOE (Customers, Actors, Transformation, Worldview, Owners, Environmental Constraints) framework, which is refined by integrating insights from the CATGOE (Customers, Actors, Transformation, Goals, Owners, Environmental Constraints) definition within Soft Systems Methodology. The primary objective of our methodology is to validate and incorporate stakeholders’ worldviews effectively.
