When the deposition process requires that the space should not be occupied, this requirement informs that other techniques are possible that can facilitate the layer deposition without providing a free space. One of the examples of other techniques is powder bed fusion (PBF), where the layer deposition does not require material to travel from one point to another to fill up the required space.
