Air deposition, also known as aerosol jet printing or aerosol jetting (AJ), is used to fabricate small features. Its applications are the formation of electronic circuits, drug printing, conformal films, optical fibers, electrodes, etc. Aerosol implies that a liquid or solid particle is suspended in air. In AJ, liquid particles are used, which become constituents of a part made, while the air acts as a carrier to transport particles. If particles are suspended in the air, they are not big but are the size of a nanometer or micrometer. If such small particles are transported, there will be a small number of particles per second ready to be deposited to make a part, which is suitable to make only small parts from ~10 μm up to 1 mm (~100 nm resolution).
