Arc Welding-Based AM: GMAW-Based
摘要
Gas metal arc welding (GMAW)-based AM utilizes an arc to melt and make inexpensive parts. In GMAW, out of two electrodes, one electrode is consumable and the other electrode is a workpiece or substrate. During the creation of an arc between two electrodes, when one electrode is melted and ready to be deposited, the need for feeding materials is eliminated. The consumable electrode is a feedstock. Since the form of a consumable electrode is usually a rod or wire, the feedstock is usually a rod or wire. It gives a more efficient transfer of heat from an arc to the wire than a process where the electrode and the wire are not the same; this results in a fast deposition.
