PBF: Shape Limitation
摘要
Powder bed fusion (PBF) cannot make a hollow metallic sphere, though simpler than a hollow lattice cube, as the closed sphere does not let powder drain out. Metal forming can make it, which implies the forming process is better than AM for making it. Although a hollow sphere can be made by incorporating drainage holes in the design. PBF cannot economically make a solid metallic sphere, though it is again simpler than a hollow lattice cube. Machining or sintering does it, making conventional manufacturing better than AM.
