The Path Ahead: Putting Healing Justice into Practice
摘要
This chapter offers a visionary roadmap for integrating healing justice into carceral systems and beyond, drawing on the lived experiences of incarcerated yoga practitioners and the evolving field of trauma-informed, mindfulness-based yoga. Centering liberation as both process and praxis, it explores how embodied practices, when delivered through ethical relationships and culturally attuned care, can interrupt cycles of trauma, punishment, and systemic oppression. Through firsthand reflections, this chapter illuminates the practical ways yoga can support community accountability, build nervous system resilience, and foster conditions for transformation within and outside of prison walls. Rather than treating yoga as an individualistic wellness tool, this chapter reframes it as a collective, politicized act of resistance and restoration. With an emphasis on relational repair, community-building, and sustainable systems of care, The Path Ahead calls on facilitators, institutions, and communities to reimagine justice as healing. It is an invitation to embody what it means to serve life, not just survive it.
