Energy Analysis of a Trigeneration and Hydrogen Plant Driven by Concentrated Photovoltaic Thermal System for Residential Application Purposes

This study focuses on analyzing a Trigeneration system designed to supply cooling and heating for residential purposes and electricity to produce green hydrogen using concentrated photovoltaic thermal system (CPVT). The CPVT provide the thermal energy for cooling and for the production of electricity. The residual heat generated from the CPVT system are used in buildings and also in the electrolysis plant. The technology used to generate hydrogen is the alkaline water electrolysis (AWE). The refrigerant proposed in the system is the R124. The results obtained indicate that the trigeneration plant achieves a 12% of maximum exergy efficiency and 42% of thermal efficiency. The outlet water from generator exits with the temperature of 65 ℃ and it is utilized to heat the alkaline water electrolysis (AWE) in the electrolysis plant. Overall, the proposed system can produce cooling and heating with the objective to be utilized in residential applications and electricity for green hydrogen.
