Introduction
摘要
This chapter introduces the contents of the book and summarizes the chapters it contains. This seventh volume published in partnership between Computational Urban Planning and Urban Management (CUPUM) and Springer heralds a new phase of research in a new digital era. In reflecting on the development and growth of planning support systems (PSSs) in the 1990s and early 2000s, we argue that the broad digitalization of cities and society has set the stage for a new era of urban planning and management research. Containing diverse contributions exploring AI, urban sensing, satellite and platform data, and visualization tools, this volume illustrates a CUPUM community in motion, engaging with the latest technologies in service of long-standing goals. Much less than displacing the concept of a PSS, the new digital era multiplies the possibilities for achieving transformative planning support.
