In this chapter, we document the historical trends in homophily by applying a single method. The method used is the NM-method that was shown to have not only some attractive analytical properties but also an outstanding empirical performance. To recall, the NM-method was found, in Sect. 11.3 , to outperform its alternatives, where we analyzed the trend in educational homophily in the USA at the sub-national and national levels using various competing methods and indicators.
