We should identify “interesting” questions that deserve to be investigated. What makes a question interesting? Trial and error could be one way in which over thousands of years, humans have selected what is interesting from the point of view of survival. Subject to their senses, there was no meaning to infer the shape of the other side of a mountain from its front because for all their existence, if they wanted to know, they could go and look, just as they searched under a rock for food. Therefore, they did not grow an interest in, neither they developed the necessary tools for inferring the shape of the south side of a mount once they had observed its northern side. On the contrary, it was and remains most important to infer what fire can burn, without having to do the test.
