The article is based on a national survey conducted during the first two years of a four-year international research project. It seeks to answer the key research question: does participation in the Erasmus + Programme impact on the development of digital transformation and digital competences in participating organizations? Data were collected through an online survey of project coordinators and in-depth (structured) interviews with organizational leaders. Both qualitative and quantitative research methods were used. The empirical findings, based on the responses of principals and Erasmus + project coordinators, show that participating organizations perceive a significant impact of Erasmus + on the development of digital transformation and digital competences, especially in KA2 strategic partnership projects. Considerable differences were identified among participating organizations, in terms of the level of achieved digital transformation and the digital competence index of coordinators – it is lowest in the school education sector and highest in adult education. Organizations whose headteachers or other educational heads foster digital culture and demonstrate a prominent level of digital literacy through their leadership and use of digital technologies were shown to have a distinct advantage. The national agency CMEPIUS can support participating organizations by further investigating the causes of differences, strengthening the involvement of organizations in KA2 projects, and encouraging the enhancement of digital competencies of principals, coordinators, and other school staff through professional training and cooperation among organizations.
