The widespread prevalence of information security issues globally underscores the need for comprehensive information security education across all higher education disciplines. Although the benefits of mind maps and inquiry-based learning are well-documented, their specific application in information security remains underexplored. Thus, this research aims to investigate how integrating these pedagogical tools can improve student information security motivation and contribute to more effective educational strategies in the field. The study included 27 students from a national university in southern Taiwan, representing diverse departments. The study demonstrates the effectiveness of an information security course in enhancing students’ knowledge, awareness, and proactive attitudes towards security threats. The course effectively communicated the importance of information security and increased students’ confidence in applying preventive measures.
