Based on the eponymous novel by Silvia Zucca, published in 2015, Guida astrologica per cuori infranti/An Astrological Guide for Broken Hearts (2021–2022) recounts the amorous odyssey of Alice Bassi, a producer for a Turin-based local television station, as she recovers from losing her longtime boyfriend and develops a newfound devotion to astrology. Created in the same vein as the British Bridget Jones’ Diary (Sharoon Maguire, 2001) and the American TV series New Girl (2011–2018), the series represents one of Netflix’s many attempts to conquer the female young adult market through international programming, like Valeria (Spain, 2020–2025), The Hook-up Plan (France, 2018–2022), and Emily in Paris (the US, 2020–). This chapter explores how series like Guida astrologica per cuori infranti have more to say about Netflix’s branding strategies, convergence culture, and patterns of consumption in global streaming market than any particular “Italianness” of its content.

摘要
