This chapter considers how the beach in Summertime (2020–2022) is represented as a liminal space. To the extent that adolescence can also be considered a liminal space, the beach seems an apt space in which to enact and undertake the coming-of-age process. This close-up explores how the young people in Summertime live the beach and examines whether the beach is as subversive a location as its liminal status would suggest it is.
