This chapter focuses on the series Summertime (2020–2022), described by its broadcaster Netflix as a “romantic drama series” and “book-inspired series” (based on the homonymous literary novel by Federico Moccia) and explores how the series moves away from and/or approaches the genre of filone giovanilistico (youth-addressed cycle of films) products over time beginning with Tre metri sopra il cielo/Three Steps over Heaven (Luca Lucini, 2004), adapting to the new conditions of production and reception and to the tastes of Italian and non-Italian audiences through the perspective of transnational distribution and circulation. This chapter also addresses how these products have created a particular form of screen stardom, from Tre metri sopra il cielo’s Step (Riccardo Scamarcio) to Summertime’s Ale (Ludovico Tersigni).

摘要
