The concluding chapter revisits the book’s central findings by contextualising students’ and alumni’s educational biographies along three key dimensions: temporalities, spatialities, and contingency. Temporalities highlight how their biographies are shaped by different relations to time—future, present, and past—and by their positioning within particular moments, generations, or life stages. Spatialities underscore Turkey as both a place of longing and belonging, and Islamic theological faculties as scientific spaces of learning. Contingency captures the complex, shifting nature of self-making and stresses that the International Theology Programme is not a uniform site of theological knowledge but a space in which students’ approaches and understandings evolve over time.
