This study aims to examine the role of sustainable educational technologies in higher education. In the study, a systematic literature review method was used to analyze academic works published on educational technologies and sustainability. As a result of the detailed examination, factors affecting the adoption of sustainable educational technologies, the impacts of digital transformation on sustainable education, and the feasibility of environmentally friendly technologies in higher education institutions were discussed. Additionally, in light of the most cited articles, various approaches to the sustainability efforts and technology usage of higher education institutions were evaluated. Findings indicate that sustainable educational technologies not only reduce environmental impacts but also provide significant contributions to enhancing quality, accessibility, and equity in education. However, the challenges of using sustainable technology in higher education continue to exist and strategies to overcome these challenges are still being explored through institutional initiatives to ensure effective implementation and long-term sustainability.
