Wine tourism, or enotourism, has emerged as a key driver of sustainable regional development, providing economic, social and environmental benefits to rural communities. The objective of this chapter is to analyze the scientific production related to “wine tourism or enotourism” and “sustainable regional development” using two of the most recognized academic databases: Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus. The methodology consisted of the collection and analysis of bibliometric data from both databases, considering articles published between 1998 and 2024. Excel was used for data management and collaboration networks between authors, institutions and countries were identified, and trends in keywords, thematic areas and the most influential publications in the field were analyzed. The results indicate a growth in research on wine tourism and sustainable regional development from 2018 to 2022, presenting a significant drop in 2023. Likewise, a high degree of collaboration was observed among the authors who publish on the subject, in addition to the fact that by the number of citations and publications authors from countries such as Portugal and Romania stood out. With this bibliometric analysis, it is concluded that there is a need for further research on wine tourism and sustainable regional development strategies.
