Insect conservation is not an ‘exact science’! Almost all cases that arise are to some extent pioneering, as building on past examples to incorporate new knowledge and experience in protecting poorly known dynamic associations between species and their environments. Some of the fundamental considerations of undertaking practical insect conservation are exemplified in the editorials discussed in this chapter.
