This paper examines the viability and potentiality of integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) in local governments in Morocco as a lever to boost territorial performance. Using a qualitative design, semi-structured interviews were carried out with elected officials and lines of administrative managers. The findings also reflect a more nuanced view: although AI is overwhelmingly seen as a promising and useful tool for improving efficiency, transparency, and service delivery, there are still a number of considerable barriers. These obstacles contain, but are not limited to, barriers to technological infrastructure, organizational inertia and a lack of political will. Another layer to adoption complexity coming way of ethical concerns, notably around data privacy and cybersecurity. In spite of these challenges, respondents conveyed measured optimism about AI's transformative potential in governance practices. The study highlights the need for targeted investments, capacity-building programs, and a coherent national strategy to overcome existing barriers and unlock AI’s full potential.

摘要
