Record services are software functions that support the data entry, storage, retrieval, display, querying, and exchange of patient health records. SNOMED CT® enabled record services rely on terminology services to help perform the SNOMED CT®-specific aspects of these activities. This chapter looks at the relationship between record services and terminology and explains some principles for delivering common terminology-enabled health record functionality.
