This paper presents a virtual reality (VR) platform designed to enhance nursing students’ training in vital signs assessment techniques. Traditional nursing education methods often limit students’ opportunities to practice clinical skills in a safe environment, leading to insufficient confidence and competence when handling complex clinical situations. Our proposed platform integrates immersive VR technology with detailed clinical scenarios to simulate real healthcare environments without risk to patients. The system allows students to practice taking vital measurements including heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, temperature, and oxygen saturation in various clinical contexts. Results from initial testing at the Technical University of Ambato’s Faculty of Health Sciences demonstrate significant improvements in students’ technical skills, decision-making abilities, and communication competencies. This VR training approach addresses critical gaps in nursing education by providing unlimited practice opportunities, immediate feedback, and access to diverse clinical scenarios. The platform represents an innovative solution to enhance practical training while maintaining patient safety and optimizing educational resources.

摘要
